The MagTek eDynamo Credit Card Reader communicates with the iPad and the SALIDO POS app via Bluetooth. It has an internal battery and is charged directly with a Micro USB cable. A card reader must be both Paired (a one-time authentication handshake with a specific iPad) and Connected (actively communicating with the SALIDO POS app on that same iPad) in order to pass information to the POS.
When connected to a power supply, the status LED on the side of the reader just above the dip slot illuminates green and blinks intermittently. When operating on battery power the status LED is not illuminated, but swiping a card through the reader will cause the status LED to flash either Red or Amber:
- RED - The eDynamo is reading data, but it is not Paired to an iPad
- AMBER - The eDynamo is reading data and is Paired to an iPad, but it is not Connected
NOTE: Apple iOS 13 introduced a new Privacy setting to explicitly allow or deny individual applications the ability to share data via Bluetooth. Please see iOS 13 + Bluetooth Pairing for more information.
