Backup (Failover) Printing

Assign a Backup Printer—or Failover Printer—to any Printer to provide it with an automatic backup. If any print job fails to the Primary Printer, the user is notified and the job is automatically re-tried at the Backup Printer. A successful print at a Backup Printer is marked as a Backup print from another device so you never lose an order, and can immediately identify a disabled device. Should the same print job also fail at the Backup Printer, the user will be notified and presented the option of retrying the print job again, starting with the Primary Printer.

Assign a Backup to an Existing Printer

Select Devices from the SALIDO Bridge Main Menu and select Printers from the dropdown
Click the Three Dots to the right of the Printer and select Edit from the dropdown
Select a Backup Printer from the dropdown
Select Save

Failover Printing on the Point of Sale - Success at Backup

Ordered Items that fail to their Primary Printer but succeed to their Backup Printer display a Yellow Prep Status Indicator and generate an Employee Notification NOTE: The Prep Status indicator for any item that routes to a Backup Printer always stays Yellow to alert staff of potential issues with hardware, even if the job ultimately succeeds
Select the item to view the ticket details

Select the Notification Center to view the Prep Status details and Dismiss the notification

Failover Printing on the Point of Sale - Failure at Backup

Ordered Items that fail to their Primary Printer AND fail to their Backup Printer display a Yellow Prep Status Indicator and generate two (2) Employee Notifications
Select the item to view the ticket details
OR
Select the Notification Center to view the Prep Status details and Dismiss the notification or Retry the Prep Job NOTE: Prep Jobs are retried to the Primary Printer first. If the job fails to the Primary again, it is automatically retried again at the Backup. This cycle will continue until the job succeeds or the user dismisses the notification. The Prep Status indicator for any item that routes to a Backup Printer always stays Yellow to alert staff of potential issues with hardware, even if the job ultimately succeeds.
