Apple manufactured power adapter. Plugs into a power outlet via foldable prongs, and has a female USB port for connecting charging cables. Provides a higher level of power than the standard iPhone charger. Recommended for all iPads running SALIDO for a fast and consistent charge.

API |
API stands for Application Programming Interface. An API is a software intermediary that allows two applications to talk to each other. In other words, an API is the messenger that delivers your request to the provider that you're requesting it from and then delivers the response back to you.

Archived |
A way to keep inactive, obsolete, or redundant items and information in the database for future reference while removing them from active use. Archived items will not be viewable on the POS, and exist separately from Active items in the Bridge.

Authorization (Credit Card Payment) |
A state of a credit card transaction in which a request for funds has been sent to a financial institution and returned with approval. Typically appears on a guest's account as a Pending charge until the end of the Business Day when the transaction becomes Settled and cleared by their bank.

Authorization (SALIDO) |
Required to perform certain actions within SALIDO. Permissions are defined in Roles. An employee without the appropriate permissions can initiate some actions (applying a Discount, for example) but will require Authorization via a SALIDO 6-digit PIN or Employee Card belonging to an Employee with the appropriate level of access.

Bluetooth |
Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard for exchanging data over short distances using short-wavelength UHF radio waves. SALIDO uses Bluetooth to pair the MagTek eDyanmo credit card reader with a specific Terminal. Operators not utilizing the eDynamo should turn Bluetooth OFF in iPad settings, as it is an unnecessary drain on the iPad's power supply.

Brand |
The second tier of the SALIDO Organization Structure, typically associated with the name of a restaurant or store. Brands can encompass multiple locations with the same concept. For example, under Organization: XYZ Organization LLC > Brand: Tommy's Shack > Location: Tommy's Shack - New York, "Tommy's Shack" is the Brand. Menu Items are defined at a Brand level, and are shared across all locations in the same Brand.

Business Day |
A set 24-hour period of time for all transactions to be associated with a specific calendar day. The end of the Business day is the same time your credit cards batch, typically end early in the morning (e.g. 2:00 AM or 4:00 AM) to ensure all sales are appropriately allocated.

Card Reader Status Indicator |
A message displayed in the Terminal Notification Center when a MagTek card reader is not connected to a Terminal

Check Action Drawer |
A collapsible drawer located in the bottom left corner of Order Screen. Contains actions which apply to the entire check (i.e. Check Level Actions).

Check Info Bar |
Header listed in the Check Screen and Order Screen containing check details: guest/label, covers, table, check number, time open, order type, and owner
|
Check Level Actions |
Actions when applied affect an entire check. These include Discounts, Voids, Printing Guest Receipts, Save/Send, Add Gratuity, Transfer, Split, Merge, and Payments. Icons for these actions live in the Check Action Drawer in the bottom left corner of the Order Screen.

Check Override |
The action of forcing a check away from a Terminal on which it is currently open. This action is intended as a last resort to recover data from a terminal that has been disabled and can result in the loss of check data when misused. If an override is completed, the check will never again be accessible on the Terminal from which it was forced
|
Check Recovery |
A tool to recover check data from a terminal that has been disabled, whether permanently or temporarily. Also referred to as Overriding a check or Forcing a check, this action is intended as a last resort action and can result in the loss of check data when misused.

Checks Screen |
One of two modes of viewing checks on the POS (the other being the Floor Plan View). Checks appear in a list format, sortable by Revenue Center, Employee, Order Type, and Status (Open/Closed). Checks are also searchable by Check Number and Check Label. Checks can be started from this screen using the plus sign icon in the bottom right-hand corner, or by swiping/dipping a credit card.

Custom Payment |
A category of Payment Type comprised of operator-defined Payment Methods that are not associated with a specific tender (Cash, Credit Card, or Gift Card).

D
Day Part |
A discrete, designated, segment of the Business Day, typically corresponding to a meal period (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Brunch, Happy Hour, Late Night, etc.). Day Parts are also a significant reference point in reporting.

Default Menu |
When multiple menus exist for a location, the Default Menu is the menu designated to appear automatically (by default) on a given Terminal. This is terminal-specific and is configured on the Bridge under Devices > Terminals.

Discounts |
An action utilized to remove a fixed percentage of cost or fixed dollar amount from items and/or checks for operator-defined reason. Also referred to as Comps, these reasons often include Buybacks, Industry Discounts, Friends & Family, Service Error, etc. Discounts can be defined as either Check Level Actions, Item Level Actions, or Both.

Employee Card |
A magnetic stripe card that allows access to the SALIDO POS. A six (6) character alphanumeric code on the back of the card correlates the magnetic strip information with a specific Employee via their Employee Profile.

Employee PIN |
Abbreviation for Personal Identification Number. Each Employee is assigned a unique (6-digit) PIN in their Employee Profile.
|
Enclosure |
The metal bracket that holds and protects the iPad loaded with the SALIDO app. Comprised of a faceplate and a backplate, held together with four (4) Phillips head screws.
|
Epson T88V or VI |
A model of Epson thermal printer. The T88V has a sloped surface, a rounded back, and is dark grey in color.
|
Epson TM-m30 |
A model of Epson thermal printer. The TM-m30 has a square shape, removable bottom and back panels, and is black in color.
|
Epson TM-U220B |
A model of Epson impact printer. The TM-u220B is squat, with a rounded top. Heavy-duty and designed to be heat resistant for kitchen use, it requires a printer ribbon and is capable of printing in black and red.

Ethernet Cable |
A specific type of networking cable used to connect one network device to another network devices. Also known as a CAT-6 Cable or a Patch Cable.

Feed Button |
A button on all Epson printers used to manually push paper through the printer without activating the print heads.
|
Floor Plan Screen |
One of two modes of viewing checks on the POS (the other being the Checks Screen View). Users will see the operator defined Floor Plan and be able to view and access checks associated with tables as well as tables available to be associated with a new check (open tables). Unoccupied tables appear in grey, tables with checks belonging to the Employee using the Terminal appear in green, and tables with checks belonging to other Employees appear in purple. Checks in a state of transfer appear outlined in orange. Multiple Floor Plans are viewable by toggling between Revenue Centers. The Floor Plan View offers overlays for Time Open, Party Size, Last Ordered, and Server (Check Owner).

Good Faith Payment |
A credit card payment processed in Offline Mode. SALIDO collects the payment details of the transaction, but cannot verify the information against a financial institution to receive an Authorization until Internet Connectivity is restored.

Gratuity |
An additional percentage or dollar amount added to a check before payment is collected. Gratuities are differentiated from Tips in Reporting. A Gratuity is associated with a check (as it is added before the payment is collected), while a Tip is associated with a Payment (as it can only be added to an existing payment).

Hardwired Printer |
A printer that is physically connected to the Local Area Network (LAN) via an ethernet cable.

I
Internet Connection |
The active internet service coming into the building from an Internet Service Provider (ISP). SALIDO Terminals communicate with the cloud and with each other via the Internet. There is an important distinction between the Internet Connection and the Local Area Network (LAN), which refers to the internal network. It is possible to be connected to the LAN without an Internet Connection, but not vice versa.

iPad Home Button |
A round button located on the face of an iPad, outside of the touchable screen area, and above the Lightning Port. Clicking the Home Button once (x1) takes a user back to the iPad Home Screen. Clicking the Home Button twice (x2) pops all open apps into a grid which allows them to be manually closed. Clicking the Home Button three-time (x3) allows the user to Enable or Disable Guided Access.

iPad Home Screen |
The default, or main menu of an iPad. Populated with various app icons, and a Dock at the bottom of the screen. Apps can be opened, moved, and deleted from the Home Screen.

iPad Lightning Cable |
A proprietary, high-speed Apple connection used to physically connect an iPad to a power source or computer. Lightning cables have a male Lightning connection.

iPad Lightning Port |
A proprietary, high-speed Apple port connection used to physically connect an iPad to a power source or computer. iPads have a female Lightning connection.
|
iPad Power Button |
A bar-shaped button located on the short edge of the iPad, opposite the Lightning Port. The Power Button controls On/Off and Sleep/Wake functions for the iPad.

KDS |
Shorthand for Kitchen Display System. A digital display for Prep Tickets. Prep Tickets appear as Tiles on a SALIDO iPad rather than printed tickets. "KDS" is often to used to refer to a dedicated iPad running the SALIDO KDS app, much in the same way Terminal is used to refer to a dedicated iPad running the SALIDO Point of Sale app.

KDS App |
A dedicated SALIDO iOS app that runs on an iPad and receives orders from the POS to display as digital Tiles as opposed to printed Prep Tickets. The SALIDO KDS app is discrete from the SALIDO Point of Sale app.

Legacy Reports |
A historic and very basic version of reporting available in the Bridge.

Location |
The third tier of the SALIDO Organization Structure, typically associated with a single physical location or address of a restaurant or store. (For example, under Organization: XYZ Hospitality LLC > Brand: Tommy's Shack > Location: Tommy's Shack - New York, "Tommy's Shack - New York" is a specific store under the "Tommy's Shack" Brand)

Locked Check |
A check that is no longer accessible from a specific Terminal. A check will become locked (or inaccessible) from a specific terminal if it is Overridden or Forced off of that terminal for purposes of Check Recovery. Once overridden, a locked check will never again be accessible on the terminal from which it was Forced for the remainder of its life cycle.

MagTek Card Reader |
An encrypted device manufactured by MagTek to read credit card information via magnetic stripe or EMV, and pass that information to the SALIDO POS app for processing. SALIDO leverages two (2) models: the iDynamo, which supports swipe and signature only, and the eDynamo which supports both swipe and signature and chip and signature (EMV).

Main Menu Footer |
A row of information across the bottom of the SALIDO Main Menu. Includes the name and position of the Employee currently using the Terminal, the name of the Terminal, a link to SALIDO Support information, as well as Action Buttons to Pop the Drawer, Run a Shift Report (when available), Take a Break, and Clock Out.

Menu Item |
A single item in the SALIDO Database. Menu Items are created on the Bridge and are associated with a Brand within the SALIDO Organization Structure. Prep Station, Menu Item Category, Price, Tax Rule, Variations, and Modifier Groups are all assigned at the Item level.

Menu Item Categories |
Operator defined groups of similar Menu Items. Modifier Groups can be assigned at the Category level. For reporting purposes, Menu Item Categories fall under operator-defined Revenue Categories.

Menu Item Count (Low Count / Count) |
A basic method of inventory management. When a limited quantity of a menu item is available to be sold, a Menu Item Count is applied to inform members of the team and prevent over-selling. Counts are applied to Menu Items and/or individual variations on the POS via the Menu Manager, accessible via the SALIDO Home Screen. Menu Item Counts do not automatically reset at the end of the business day.

Menu Manager |
A module in the SALIDO POS to manage Low Counts and 86s of pinned Menu Items. The Menu Manager is located on the SALIDO Home Screen.

Menu Selector |
Allows for toggling between different Menus. Located in the bottom right-hand corner of the Check View or Order Screen.
|
Micro USB |
A miniaturized version of the Universal Serial Bus (USB) interface developed for connecting compact and mobile devices such as smartphones, MP3 players, GPS devices, photo printers, and digital cameras.

Modifier |
An object in the database utilized to alter existing Menu Items. Modifiers are typically used to add or remove individual ingredients from a Menu Item, or communication cooking or preparation instructions. Modifiers are (optionally) associated with a price, and are assigned to Modifier Groups.
|
Modifier Group |
A collection of similar Modifiers. Modifier Groups are applied to either Menu Item Categories or individual Menu Items. Default Modifier prices can be overridden within the context of a Modifier Group without altering the Modifier itself. Groups can be configured to limit the number of selections, require a selection, allow multiple selections, or allow no selections. Modifier Groups can be toggled to Prompt every time an item to which they are assigned is ordered, or exist in the background to be accessed selectively.

Network (LAN) |
A Local Area Network (LAN) is a group of devices that share a common communications line or wireless link to a server. All SALIDO devices are configured to operate on a single LAN. It is important to note the LAN can be operational even if the Internet Connection is down.

Network Status Indicator |
A warning message that will appear in the top right-hand corner of the terminal screen should there be an issue with either the Network or Internet connection. Possible messages include: "Terminal X is Syncing", "Terminal X is OFFLINE", and "Terminal X is having syncing issues."

Notification Center |
Displays any alerts for the POS in the top right-hand corner of the screen. System-wide notifications (network status, card reader not detected) will appear on the SALIDO Home Screen. Employee specific notifications (Transfer Notifications, Prep Status Error Notifications) will appear once an Employee has logged in.

O
Obstacle |
A non-table object added to the Floor Plan to mirror physical obstructions or features of the restaurant.
|
Offline Mode | In the event of loss of Internet connectivity, the SALIDO system will operate in Offline Mode with limited functionality. Terminals will operate as "islands” and be unable to sync check data with each other, or with the Bridge. As long as the LAN remains unaffected, printing will continue without interruption. Payments that are received in Offline Mode will be taken in Good Faith. |
OLO |
Shorthand for Online Ordering. Can be used to refer to the online ordering process as a whole, as well as the dedicated SALIDO device running a specialized version of the KDS app to accept orders from Third Party OOPs (Online Ordering Provider). The Online Ordering Terminal sends orders received from OOPs to the appropriate KDS and/or Prep Station.

OOP (Online Ordering Partner) |
A third party service which collects orders directly from guests and passes them to the SALIDO API, which in turn routes orders to the appropriate OLO Terminal in a restaurant.

Order Screen |
The screen on the POS when "in" a check, whether new or existing. Comprised of the Check Info Bar, the Ordered Item List, the Check Action Drawer, and the Menu, the Order Screen is where items are added to a check, and where all Check Actions take place.
|
Order Type |
A classification for subsets of checks or orders to provide a breakout point in Reporting. Common Order Types include Dine In, Take Out, Pickup, or Delivery. |
Ordered Item |
A Menu Item that has been added to a check and sent. Ordered items are indicated by the presence of the Prep Status Bar to the left of the item in the Ordered Item List.

Ordered Item List |
A list of Menu Items belonging to a check, located on the left side of the Order Screen. Items in the Ordered Item list reflect all items associated with a given check, and details include Price and Quantity, as well as any Discounts, Modifiers, and/or Notes applied to those items.

Organization |
The highest tier in the SALIDO Organizational Structure, often associated with a hospitality group or LLC encompassing multiple concepts (Brands). Sometimes referred to as the Parent Organization or Parent Company. For example, our fictitious Organization, Dummy Hospitality, LLC, has several Brands, each of which has multiple locations. Organization: XYZ Hospitality, LLC > Brands: Tommy's Shack, Tommy's BBQ, Tommy's Pizza > Locations Brand: Tommy's Shack > Locations: Tommy's Shack NYC, Tommy's Shack LA Brand: Tommy's BBQ > Locations: Tommy's BBQ NYC, Tommy's BBQ Atlanta Brand: Tommy's Pizza > Locations: Tommy's Pizza NYC - West Village, Tommy's Pizza NYC - Brooklyn

A web portal for a merchant service provider that authorizes credit cards and processes transactions.

Pop Drawer |
Physically opening a cash drawer via SALIDO. The drawer will open when a cash payment is accepted on a Terminal with an Open Bank. The drawer can also be opened without an associated sale by selecting the Pop Drawer button from the SALIDO Main Menu by an Employee with appropriate access.

POS |
Short for Point of Sale. SALIDO is a Point of Sale software application which performs the sales transaction (ringing orders) and processes payments. "POS" can be used as shorthand to refer specifically to the Terminals, or to SALIDO as a whole, and is often used colloquially to differentiate between KDS and OLO.

POS Terminal Setup Wizard |
A self-guided series of prompts to claim a SALIDO device as a specific Terminal within an Organization, Brand, and Location.
|
Position Category |
A label applied to similar types of Positions to differentiate in Labor Reporting. Typical Position Categories include FOH, BOH, and Management.
|
Preference Profile |
Controls a number of settings related to, among other things, check behavior, position tracking, digital signature, guest receipt appearance, prep ticket appearance, shift reports, and restaurant wide reports. Preference Profiles are defined at the Organization Level and are assigned to Terminals.

Prep Profile |
Connects Prep Stations (assigned to Menu Items) to Prep Devices (Printers and KDS Displays). The Prep Profile contains a list of all available Prep Stations and all available Prep Devices, and lines are drawn between Prep Stations and Printers to determine what prints where. Prep Profiles are assigned to Revenue Centers. Separate Prep Profiles may be necessary for different Day Parts (Meal Periods) and/or Revenue Centers and to support other workflows. One Prep Profile can be assigned to multiple Revenue Centers

Prep Station |
A label applied to a Printer or group of Printers. Prep Stations are assigned to Menu Items and determine where a Menu Item will print.

Prep Ticket |
A physical or digital order of Menu Items transmitted from a Terminal to a Prep Device |
Price Levels |
A label applied to a specific set of prices. Price Levels are toggled on and off and defined at the Menu Item level, and when and how they are applied is controlled by a Price Rule. Common use cases for Price Levels are different pricing by Day Part or by Location.

Price Rule |
A Bridge configuration that determines which Price Level is applied as the default for each Day Part within each Order Type. Price Rules are defined by Location and applied to Revenue centers

Printer Error Light |
All Epson printers have a dedicated error light to alert the user of physical errors. These can range from a paper outage or a physical obstruction to a malfunction of the auto-cutter or insufficient power.

Printer Status Sheet |
A diagnostic printout from an Epson printer, manually triggered by depressing a small black button on the underside or rear of the printer (location varies by printer model). The Status Sheet provides network-specific information including, but not limited to, WiFi and Ethernet Link Status, the SSID the printer is on, and the IP address of the printer. These pieces of information are primarily used for initial set up, as well as troubleshooting and diagnostic purposes.

Revenue Category |
The broadest reporting category for Menu Items; Menu Items roll up into Menu Item Categories, and Menu Item Categories roll up into Revenue Categories. Common Revenue Categories include Food, Wine, Beer, and Liquor.

Revenue Center |
Revenue Centers represent either a physical area of a Restaurant (e.g. Dining Room, Bar, Private Dining Room) or a discrete revenue stream (e.g. Online Ordering). Prep Profile, Tax Rules, Price Rules, Receipt Footers, and Table Numbers are all assigned to Revenue Centers. Revenue Centers are created and managed on the Bridge.

Roles |
Roles contain a list of all permissions which can be toggled on or off to determines access level to both the POS and the Bridge. Roles are created and managed at the Organization level and are assigned to Positions.

The SALIDO web portal for managers and administrators. Provides access to backend configuration and in-depth reporting.

SALIDO Bridge Main Menu |
The default navigation of the SALIDO Bridge, accessed via a series of drop-down menus on the left side of the page when viewed. Provides access to the Dashboard, Checks, Reports, Employees, Menu Manager, Devices, and Setup sections of the Bridge.

SALIDO POS Home Screen |
The default screen for SALIDO when not actively in use. Displays the Date and Time, the Terminal Name, the Location Name, the PIN pad, and the current SALIDO app version.

SALIDO POS Main Menu |
The primary point of access screen for all SALIDO POS actions. From the Main Menu, users can access the Floor Plan View, the Checks Screen View, the Manage Banks module, the Guests module, Status & Reports, Settings, a link to the SALIDO Bridge, and the Menu Manager. Modules are visible or not depending on the permission set associated with the Employee accessing SALIDO at any given time.

SALIDO Organization Structure |
A cascading hierarchy that defines Reporting parameters and serves as the building blocks of a business. The Organization is the highest tier, followed by Brand, followed by Location. Different settings are applied at (or "live at") different levels of an organization.

Shift Report |
An Employee specific report run from the POS during the current Business Day. Reports can be customized in Preference Profiles to include or exclude Sales reporting (Payment Summary, Payment Details, Discounts, and Tips) and/or Inventory reporting (Product Mix, Menu Item Categories, Revenue Categories, Order Types).

SSID |
The technical term for a network name, short for Service Set Identifier.

Status Bar / Status Indicator |
A colored bar that appears next to a Menu Item on the Ordered Item List to indicate the Prep Status of a Prep Ticket after items have been Sent. Green indicates a successful print, Yellow indicates the print is Pending or In Progress, Red indicates a printer failure.

Tax Rules |
A customizable label used to organize and define tax behavior within a Revenue Center.

Terminal |
A single iPad running the SALIDO Point of Sale app. Terminals configurations include a Name (e.g. Dining Room 1, Bar 1), a Revenue Center, a Default Menu, a Preference Profile, and a Receipt Printer.

Terminal Information |
Information specific to the terminal and the user currently logged in.
|
Terminal Printer |
The printer directly assigned to a given terminal for guest receipts and credit card receipts.
|
Terminal Status Indicator |
Displays system-wide notifications on the top right hand corner of the SALIDO Login Screen. Common notifications include network issues and card reader issues.

Three Dots |
An icon consisting of three vertical dots that indicates additional actions are possible. When selected, a drop-down menu listing additional actions will appear.

USB to Micro USB Cable |
A power cable with a male MicroUSB connection on one end and a male standard USB connection on the other. These cables are used to connect a MagTek and 12W Apple Power Adapter.

Variation or Menu Item Variation |
A discrete version or form of a single Menu Item that tracks in reporting as associated with the parent Menu Item. Variations are defined and pricing is assigned within the parent Menu Item. Common use cases include different sizes of the same item (e.g. small and large) and flavors of similar items (bottled sodas) and coffee (regular vs. decaf).

Void |
Remove Ordered Items from a check, or clear an entire check. Indicates product has not been used, and no tax liability is incurred.

WiFi Dongle |
A USB connected peripheral device which allows Epson printers to wirelessly connect to the dedicated network. Resembles a thumb drive connected to the underside of the printer.

WiFi Printer |
A printer connected to the network via WiFi (i.e. not connected physically via an ethernet cable).
