The “Terminal is Offline” error indicates the Terminal is operating in Offline Mode. This is typically caused by a complete disruption of an Internet connection while the Local Area Network (LAN) remains functioning. In Offline Mode, printing and payments remain operational in a limited capacity. However, the Terminals will not be able to communicate with the Cloud, and by extension, the other Terminals.
Terminal is Offline |
Each Terminal will behave as an “island.” Check data will not be shared between devices, and the entire life cycle of any given check will need to exist on a single device. In this scenario, we recommend each member of the team select a single Terminal for their exclusive use until Internet connectivity is restored.
All payments taken in "Offline Mode" are considered “Good Faith Payments.” Payment details will be captured and stored locally on individual devices, but cannot be verified against a guest’s bank or credit card provider until Internet connectivity is restored. Please be advised, when in “Offline Mode” you will need to ensure that NO terminal is restarted, turned off, and/or dies, or you will lose the CC info stored on the iPad. That said, there is always a chance payment taken in Good Faith could ultimately be declined once the details are verified.
In the case of a prolonged Internet Service Disruption, please contact your Network Management Team and/or Internet Service Provider.
