Check Recovery
If a Terminal becomes completely inoperable—e.g. an iPad is thrown down a flight of stairs, knocked into a sink, etc.—checks that were in use on that Terminal and/or syncing at that time may become inaccessible on other Terminals. In these extreme scenarios, Check Recovery can be used to recover checks from a compromised device. Please be advised, however, that once Check Recovery is used, a Recovered Check will never again be accessible on the Terminal from which it was recovered.
Check Recovery retrieves the last complete version of a check from the cloud and overwrites the local data on the POS. Any data that was not fully synced from the POS to the cloud is overwritten to prevent data corruption from a damaged device. This can result in data loss. Recovered Checks are frequently missing ordered items and/or payment information added after the version recovered.
Any data lost during Check Recovery cannot be recovered. For this reason, Check Recovery should only ever be used as an absolute last resort when a Terminal is rendered completely inoperable and there is no alternative to recovering or manually re-building check data.
