Overview

Epson TM-m30 and TM-m30ii thermal printers can be used as both Prep Printers to receive Prep Tickets and Terminal Printers for printing Guest Receipts. In this article, we will cover how to update the firmware on these flexible printers. Please budget twenty (20) to thirty (30) minutes to complete the process from start to finish.

Getting Started (return to top)

You will need an iPad or iPhone with the Epson TM Utility App installed, minimum version 3.30.0. If you are not using at least version 3.30.0 of the Epson TM Utility App please update the App before beginning.

To verify which App version you have, open the Epson TM Utility app Select the blue i button on the top-right side of the screen Confirm you are using version 3.30.0 or higher. Select Epson TM Utility on the top-left side of the screen to return to the previous screen
Identify the model of the printer, either TM-m30 or TM-m30ii. The model can be found on the label on the back of the printer.

Update the Printer Using the Epson TM Utility App (return to top)

Open the Epson TM Utility app
Select the blue ribbon near the top of the screen
Select the printer you want to "connect"
Scroll down the screen Select Update the Firmware
Under the UPDATEABLE FIRMWARE LIST, select Get
Select the Wi-Fi dongle in use Select Next
Select the latest firmware from the list Select Next
To download the firmware, select Download After the download is complete, select Next
To install/update the firmware, select Execute After the install/update is complete, select OK Exit the app
